We are Hamude and Raman. We grew up in a place where war was normal and the future was never promised. As young men we left for Europe, searching for safety and a chance at a real life, where here we found it.
But we never stopped carrying the people and experiences we left behind. The people we love are still there, and we know from experience what it feels like to live in uncertainty, and once you have felt it, you can't pretend it isn't happening right now.
Running became our way to cope. When the noise in our heads gets too loud, we run. It gives the anger somewhere to go, the anger of knowing we can't do more. Because somehow, the unfairness itself has kept us running.
So this November, together with Red Barnet, we want to do something that is hard on purpose. 100 miles (160km), non-stop, in Fælledparken, Copenhague, with no easy way out.
We run for every kilometer we have covered in the past and every one still to come. Every step will be for a child trying to survive war. This isn't about us. It's about every child who deserves a safe, decent life, and the chances we were lucky enough to get. Because none of us chose where we were born.
Come run with us, cheer us on, or donate. Every kilometer counts, and so does every one of you.
When we reach our goal, we'll film a thank-you video from the finish line for everyone who gave.
